MAZDA Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Plans

The electrification of the auto industry is underway, and Mazda is announcing their vehicle plans. The automaker has held its course as global emissions standards have evolved over the last few decades, and it is now going a step further. Recently, Mazda announced its encompassing electrification strategy, bringing significant changes to the lineup.

As part of Mazda’s electrification strategy, it will release its new EV platform within the next three years. Mazda’s new vehicle platform will be known as the Skyactiv® EV Scalable Architecture. Mazda plans to use this platform for a wide range of body styles and sizes. Mazda plans to create a variety of EV models using this new architecture between the years 2025 and 2030. In fact, by 2030, Mazda wants all vehicles in its lineup to have electrified capabilities to various degrees. This includes at least 25 percent of the lineup comprised of all-electric vehicles. Collaboration for electrification between Toyota and Mazda is expected to continue.

Between now and 2025, Mazda plans to bring 13 additional electrified models to its lineup. This includes three new all-electric models, five hybrid vehicles, and five plug-in hybrid vehicles. It is unknown if all of these electrified models will be offered in all of Mazda’s key markets. These markets are the United States, Europe, China, and Japan.
