2021 MAZDA CX-5 vs 2022 MAZDA CX-5 Package Levels

Performance

The base-level powertrain in most of the Mazda CX-5’s trim levels is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. It pairs with a six-speed auto transmission to deliver 187 horsepower. While this powertrain is unchanged, the turbocharged engine offered in select trims gives a subtle boost of additional horsepower. By 2022, it will produce 227 horsepower. In addition to this change, all-wheel drive becomes a standard feature for 2022. Also, the suspension system in the latest version of the Mazda CX-5 has been fine-tuned, and a few other performance enhancements have been made.

Appearance

The improvements to the 2022 Mazda CX-5 have also touched the exterior styling. For 2022, this model shows off a refreshed look at the front and rear. Specifically, the front end continues to have its chrome-accented grille, but the headlights and the lower fascia have a sportier look. At the rear, the headlights and the bumper have been refreshed as well. The Mazda CX-5 continues to have deep, smooth contours on the sides, a dual-spoke wheel design, thin body molding, and a liftgate spoiler.

Features

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 features are identical to the 2022 versions on a trim-by-trim basis. Base-level equipment includes a push-button starter, a four-speaker sound system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher trims give you leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a heads-up display screen, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, paddle shifters, and a vast array of additional features.
