Serving Brighton, MI

In 2023, Mazda’s line of crossover SUVs will grow with the addition of the Mazda CX-50. As a new model, the Mazda CX-50 understandably has your attention, but how does it compare to an established, popular option like the Mazda CX-5? Our sales reps at Serra Mazda Brighton are excited to be a part of your search for a new crossover, and we will happily assist with your model comparison.

Performance

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 and the 2023 Mazda CX-50 have been brilliantly engineered. The Mazda CX-5 is offered with two powertrains. The primary engine is an inline-four system paired with a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission. This equipment produces 187 horsepower. The other powertrain available is a turbocharged inline-four gas engine. The same transmission joins it, and the result is 227 horsepower. All Mazda CX-5 trims have an all-wheel drive drivetrain. The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is also available with two powertrains. The base inline-four engine produces 187 horsepower, and the turbocharged variant gives off 227 horsepower as well. All Mazda CX-50 trim levels come with all-wheel drive and six-speed auto transmission.

Appearance

The Mazda CX-5 is slightly smaller than the Mazda CX-50, but these models share strong aesthetic similarities. Smooth, flowing lines define the Mazda CX-5’s façade through the profile and a crisp line that angles through the side doors. The nose is sophisticated with a thin lower fascia, a chrome-underscored grille, and narrow headlights. The 2023 Mazda CX-50 has somewhat longer and flatter surfaces through its profile. Flared haunches and squared-off wells define the sides. The grille has a black finish on the nose, and the headlights are slightly larger than the Mazda CX-5’s headlights.

Features

There are minor differences in included and available features throughout these crossovers’ lineups, but you will find that they are both spectacularly appointed. They share equipment like a backup camera, a large display screen, a navigation system, voice control, smart device integration, an auto climate control system, heated seats, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and other equipment.
